Andy Murray wasted only 84 minutes in dispatching the hopes of Slovakia's Blaz Rola on Wimbledon's Court One today as he won by a comprehensive 6-1, 6-1, 6-0 scoreline.

The left-handed Rola, ranked 92, had no answers to Murray’s superior power or court craft. Apart from Rafael Nadal Murray thrives against lefties and so it proved.

The sole weakness evinced by Murray was his second serve which was both slow and prone to double faults.

Moore, ranked six in Britain, was full of scampering  energy as she went into a 4-2 lead in the decider. She was 40-15 up On Zvonereva's serve when the latter began to use her experience to greater effect.

Moore double faulted on the final point of her two penultimate service games, handing the initiative to the tall Russian. As gallant British defeats go it was right up there.

Li Na, the second seed, be at her Austrian opponent Yvonne Meusburger 6-2, 6-2 despite hitting many of her ground shots long. She is likely to face Elena Vesnina in round three.
