Thorney Weir lake in West Drayton hosts one of the preliminary rounds of the British Carp Angling Championships on Friday.

The angling marathon runs for 48 hours from mid-day and 24 anglers from across the country are taking part in a bid to land a top three finish, which will book them a place in the televised next round plus a share of the £20,000 prize fund.

BCAC organiser Rob Hughes said: “West Drayton is a brilliant venue for carp fishing and is without question one of the best carp lakes in the area. The BCAC tour travels all over the country and this event is one of the highlights of the year.”

Almost 400 anglers have entered the event, which runs until September with the finals taking place at Broadlands Lake in Hampshire.
