WEALDSTONE produced a gutsy and heroic performance before going down 3-2 at home to Rotherham United at Grosvenor Vale on Sunday.

Two goal hero Ryan Ashe stole the man-of-match honours from the energetic Kieron Forbes.

Here GREG BURNS runs the rule over the performance of both sets of players.

PLAYER RATINGS:

WEALDSTONE

Sean Thomas: Mistake led to first goal but otherwise solid. Was not forced into making any real saves. 6/10

Marvin McCoy: Always an outlet from right-back. 7/10

Lee Chappell: Long throws worried the Millers defence all afternoon and showed good energy to support the attack whenever possible. Booked. 7/10

James Gray: No nonsense performance. Made some important clearances. 7/10

Alan Massey: Gave a way a few needless fouls but also put his body in the way of most Millers attempts. 7/10

Ryan Ashe: Two goal hero. Will not score two better goals this season and what a stage to do it on. 9/10. STAR MAN

Kieron Forbes: Pace and energy scared the Rotherham defence throughout. Got himself into some good positions but final ball and finish let him down. 8/10.

Chris O'Leary: Tough tackling midfielder did not give Pablo Mills and Nicky Law anytime in midfield to put their stamp on the game. 7/10.

Charlie Mpi: Neat touches and linked up well with Ellerbeck. Faded in the second half. 6/10.

Chris Ellerbeck: Well marshalled by the Millers defence and struggled to get into the game. 6/10.

Mark E'Beyer: Not given time and space to turn and run at defence but solid midfield outlet. 6/10.

SUBS:

Danny Spendlove: Direct approach was precisely what the Stones comeback needed. 8/10.

Ross Lafayette: Had little time to make an impact after coming on as late susbsitute. 6/10.

ROTHERHAM UNITED

Andy Warrington: Experienced goalkeeper was a vocal presence at the back for Millers. Had no chance with two goals. 6/10.

Dale Tonge: Right back kept Mark E'Beyer quiet for large periods. 6/10

Danny Harrison: Former Tranmere Rovers defender used all his experience to marshall Charlie Mpi and Chris Ellerbeck. 6/10.

Ian Sharps: Backed up central defensive partner well with some tough tackling and a powerful heading display. 6/10.

Nick Fenton: Was run ragged by Forbes and often found his pace and trickery a problem. 6/10.

Nicky Law: Injured in a tackle early on and susbsituted at half-time. 5/10.

Kevin Ellison: Scored a wonderful goal and troubled the Stones defence all afternoon. 8/10.

Drewe Broughton: Won a lot of aerial battles and flick ons for the pace of Le Fondre. Scored the goal which halted the Stones comeback. 7/10.

Andy Nicholas: Did not convince in middle of park. Gave away a number of needless fouls and failed to make an impact. Booked. 5/10.

Pablo Mills: Failed to make his mark in the midfield and saw some passes going astray. 5/10.

Adam Le Fondre: Used his pace and guile to get in behind the Stones defence on numerous occasions. Gambled well for first goal. 7/10.

SUBS:

Paul Warne: Half-time susbsitute slotted into the middle of the park but also failed to get his foot on the ball and control the game. 6/10.

Steven Brogan: Late susbtitute. Did not have time to influence play. Booked. 5/10
