Cycling: Sigma Sport's Jerone Walters increased his lead in the Hillingdon Winter Series races with a fine win in last Saturday's 10th event.

With just three events remaining, he now holds a 220pt lead over second-placed Chris Moores (Norwood Paragon), which, barring any mishaps or illness, should be enough to win the crown.

The elite race saw five Sigma Sport riders cleverly control the tactics, placing three men in the 16-strong break, which moved clear at around half distance, leaving the other two to mark every move by the bunch.

With the Sigma team prominent in the break, Walters and Moores broke clear with five miles to go,yet it was Walters again who crossed the line first, ahead of Moores by two seconds, with a time of 1.17.50.

The break sprinted in at 42 seconds, led by Banbury Star's Will Fox.

Team Quest's talented junior Martin Dawkins was placed sixth, while the 51-strong bunch came in at 1.10.

The 16-mile fourth category support race was won by James Lowden (Lewes Wanderers), 47.05 ahead of Tom Sutherland (Twickenham CC).

Forty three riders finished the event.
