HAYES & YEADING boss Nas Bashir has targeted ‘two to three’ wins from his side’s final six games to secure Blue Square Premier safety.

Bashir’s men slumped to a 2-1 home defeat to Lincoln City on Tuesday night and remain in the final relegation spot, a point behind 20th placed Newport County.

Two wins would take United to the 40 point mark but last season Forest Green Rovers needed 46 points to survive and only did so on goal difference.

However, the Hayes & Yeading manager believes a lower total will be required this season and is preparing his players for one last push to avoid relegation, starting at Southport on Saturday.

He said: “We’ve got six games to go and we know what our task is: we need to get two to three wins. If we play like we did [against Lincoln] then we can beat anybody in this league.

“Every game we play is a cup final, as we have been saying for a few weeks now, and we shall certainly be going to Southport to win. We are not looking to lose or draw; we’ve got to get the three points.”

United will be without centre-back Phil Walsh for the trip to Merseyside as the defender continues to serve a suspension for his dismissal against AFC Telford.
