Golden girl Jessica Harper swept the board at her London Region Disability Championships debut, WRITES COLIN ROWE.

The Chelsea and Kensington member's first gold at Bexley came in the 50m backstroke where she managed to knock seven seconds off her personal best with a time of 50.81secs.

Thirty minutes later she was in the pool again winning the 100m free in another PB of 1:28.63.

Harper had little time to prepare for her major test of the day in the back-to-back 50m free and 100m back events.

She yet again rose to the challenge collecting two more golds and setting PBs in both events with times of 39.95 and 1:55.25.

After receiving her medals it was announced that Harper had also won her overall age-group award.

Fellow C&K swimmer Guillermo Romero competed bravely against two Team GB Paralympians, and a Beijing reserve, in the 50m and 100m free at the championships.

Guillermo fished a creditable sixth in his weaker 100m event against this very strong field in a time of 1:30.22.

Unfortunately, a poor start cost him a medal in the 50m which saw him slip agonisingly down to fourth in a time of 36.30.
