HARROW Athletic Club’s Josh Swaray smashed his own club record in taking a superb fifth spot in the final of the 100m at the World Championships trials in Birmingham.

Swaray’s time of 10.20secs sliced one tenth of a second off his previous record as the Harrow star continues to push the boundaries.

Laura Turner was also in action in Birmingham and she also placed fifth in the 100m, clocking 11.63 in the final and a season’s best of 11.53 in the heats.

Meanwhile, Harrow’s Southern Athletic League team eased its relegation worries with a big win at Bannister on Sunday, defeating nearest rivals Blackheath by 42 points with Enfield and Worthing in third and fourth places.

There were victories in the men’s events by James Harding (100m), Jim Cooper (3,000m), Richard Carr (long jump) and the sprint relay team.

The women’s team produced three track victories and four in the field.

Eugenie Brown (200m), Lyndsey Fairweather (800m) and Ashlee McGuigan (1,500m) triumphed on the track while Georgia Nwawulor (high jump), Marilyn Nwawulor (long jump), Angela Mitchell (discus) and Georgie Floyd won in the field.

Jaiden Aaron and Ellie Chandler set new club records in the Youth Development fixture in Eton on Saturday.

Aaron’s winning 24.8 set a new U13s 200m time while Ellie Chandler improved her own U15s hammer record to 35.93m.

English Schools champion Kesi Oludoyi won both under 15 sprints while Ope Ajanaku impressed in winning the high jump with an excellent 1.75m leap.
