ANDREW Swain held his nerve to win the Ruislip Golf Club Junior Open by just one stroke last Wednesday.
The 17-year-old carded a fine gross 86, nett 62, to provide Ruislip with a home winner in the tournament that attracted 24 entries from play-ers aged 11 to 17.
Liam Cella of Haste Hill was runner-up after firing a gross 87, nett 63, and Sean Cresswell of the host club came in third, with a gross 90, nett 64.
The previous weekend Ruislip juniors narrowly failed to win a fourth successive title in the National Association of Public Golf Courses Junior Championship.
The youngsters went to Tamworth seeking to extend their remarkable three-year winning run in the competition but had to settle for second place.
Jake Fowler, Tom O'Connor, Cresswell, Niall Rowan and George Hennessy combined for a nett total of 280 in the four to score event, just three behind winners Stevenage.
Jake Fowler helped Ruislip to second in the NAPGC event.
