USAIN Bolt made a surprise guest appearance at the 2009 Athletics Camp held in Brunel University.

Aspiring young athletes aged between eight and 18 travelled in from all over the country to visit the week-long camp held at the High Performance Centre in Uxbridge.

Olympic gold medal winner Bolt took a break from his heavy training schedule to spend time with the young athletes on their last day, offering them plenty of tips and advice.

The Jamaican sprinter was more than happy to sign autographs and pose for photos. He even found time to give one of the kids a glimpse of his famous dance routine.

However, the 6ft 5in record holder wasn't the only star name to make an appearance at the camp.

Double Olympic champion Dame Kelly Holmes was also involved, and the kids were treated to a front-row seat as the decorated former athlete was interviewed by

the BBC's very own Paul Dickinson. The children then took advantage of a Q&A session with the legendary British athlete.

Event organiser Roger Hughes said: "I'm incredibly proud of the way the whole team pulled together to put on a truly fantastic week of athletics for the kids.

"The event was made extra special with the appearance of guest stars Dame Kelly Holmes and Usain Bolt."

The camp, now in its third series, was designed to give aspiring athletes the chance to benefit from the knowledge of experienced coaches in the build-up to London 2012 and allow them to take advantage of the state-of-the-art facilities.

Hughes added: "I think we've created a 'dream team' of coaches, talks and seminars, fascinating celebrity interviews, along with specialist coaching in all track and field disciplines.

Hughes highlighted his motivation behind the camp by saying: "Sport is so important on so many levels and I want to help as many young people realise their potential, enjoy sport and make friends as possible.

"Everyone I've spoken to has loved it and wants to come back for more".

"I'm sure with support we will be able to continue the good work we've started here and I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped make this camp possible."
