CHARLIE Moone has been backed by boss Mark Harper to smash the 20-goal target he has set himself for the season.

The Hampton & Richmond Borough striker told the Chronicle in the summer that he hopes getting more game time than before will lead to his best goals return yet.

Moone's hat-trick in Tuesday night's 4-1 FA Trophy first qualifying round replay win at Hythe Town took the former Woking striker to nine for the season already.

Boro boss Harper said: “Charlie could have had five at Hythe. He is a really composed and intelligent forward who gets himself into good areas.

“I don't want to blow his trumpet, but he is on target and could even score more than the 20 he has set himself. He is working hard and is really looking like a lead striker.”

The Beavers will switch their attention from the FA Trophy to the FA Cup tomorrow when they travel to Ryman Premier promotion rivals Bury Town in the third qualifying round.
