BRENTFORD are sweating on the fitness of Pim Balkestein ahead of tomorrow night's trip to Southend .

The on-loan Ipswich Town defender missed Saturday's win against Huddersfield with a groin strain – a victory hailed as his best in his two-and-a-half years in the hotseat by boss Andy Scott .

Should Balkestein return, Karleigh Osborne is expected to revert to right-back, with Danny Foster dropping to the bench.

Scott is also boosted by the return of loanee Lionel Ainsworth , who wasn't allowed to play against parent club Huddersfield.

But Ryan Dickson (hamstring), Mark Phillips (knee) and Kevin O'Connor (foot) all miss out.
