Tia Gayle and Jayani Samarakoon featured as Stars for the Future earned accolades at the British Weightlifting Championships in Birmingham.
Gayle, a Year 7 pupil at Queensmead School in South Ruislip, took gold after lifting the 45kg snatch and 53kg catch-and-jerk and posted a personal best in the process.
Teammate Samarakoon, of Barnhill Community High School, in Hayes, earned bronze for his 23kg and 30kg – a personal best.
Stars for the Future teammates Sophyia Rana and Se Gavin also took gold.
Simran Brar, Yousif Vasquez, Imani Goodison and Hope Saunders also earned medals on a productive day for the west London Olympic Weightlifting club, part of the West London Academy supported by British Weight Lifting (BWL).
