SAM Saunders has agreed a new two-year deal at Brentford.

The Bees midfielder's contract is due to expire next month, but Saunders told the Chronicle he's keen to extend his stay at Griffin Park.

Saunders has made nearly 150 appearances for Brentford since his switch from Dagenham & Redbridge in 2009, scoring 19 goals, establishing himself as a firm favourite with the Bees faithful.

However, the 29-year-old failed to make the number of starts required this season to trigger the automatic 12-month extension in his deal.

But the Chronicle understands Saunders has verbally agreed a new two-year contract in TW8, and will complete the formalities when he gets back from holiday in the next few weeks.

Brentford have also offered a new deal to winger Harry Forrester , but the former Aston Villa ace has so far failed to put pen to paper.
