SAM Saunders admits Brentford's struggling stars are playing for their futures.

Three-successive defeats has seen any outside chance of a play-off place go up in smoke.

The Bees head into tomorrow's home clash with Rochdale a massive 10 points behind Carlisle in sixth spot with just 11 games to go.

However, Saunders says Brentford are determined not to let their season fizzle out, and insists there's plenty still to play for.

He said: “All of the players here have something to prove.

“Some of the boys are out of contract in the summer and will be trying to earn new deals or wanting to get a move elsewhere.

“The lads already here need to show the manager they're good enough to be in his plans for next season and the loan players will want to impress their clubs.”

Brentford faded badly last season after their JPT final disappointment at Wembley, winning just one of their remaining seven games to finish in 11 th place.

And Saunders says the Bees are hell-bent on making the top 10 and improving on last year's finale.

He added: “Last season after the JPT our season seemed to peter out. We want to make sure that doesn't happen this time.

“We want to improve on last season's finish. That's something we're looking to do.”
