SAM Saunders will hold talks with Brentford chiefs today over his Griffin Park future.

The Bees midfielder is out of contract this summer after failing to make the number of starts required to trigger the automatic one-year extension in his deal.

Saunders will sit down with sporting director Mark Warburton and owner Matthew Benham today to discover whether he will be offered fresh terms in TW8.

And the former Dagenham star insists he's keen to extend his four-year stay at the club, despite the lack of game time this season.

He said: “I have had a really good time here. I don’t know what’s going to happen now.

“I feel I’ve put myself at the back quite a lot this year and I’ve put the team first.

“Coming to 30 I want to be playing. I don’t need an assurance to play because no player deserves that.

“I felt at the beginning of the season I didn’t deserve to be playing because I wasn’t doing well enough. Since January I feel my performances have picked up.

“I’ve got a good relationship with the gaffer and Mark Warburton. We’ve always been honest with each other.

“I’ve loved it here. Everything here is set up for the Championship now. It’s exciting to be a part of it. Hopefully it’s all successful.”
