HARROW Athletic Club’s British League squad eased their relegation worries with a battling fourth place in the third round of the British League at Eton on Saturday, writes Tony Bush.

New club record holder Josh Swaray completed his preparations for this weekend’s World Championships trials by winning the 100 metres in a fast 10.51.

Othroy Marsh made it a double by taking the B string in 10.94.

It did not go quite so well in the 200m as Marsh finished eighth in 22.74 and Richard Carr came seventh in the B final with a time of 23.04.

Neil Holloway’s personal best time of 50.16 was good enough for sixth spot in the 400m A final and Stefan Colaco grabbed eighth in the B in 52.28.

Graeme Oudney dominated the 800m, leading from start to finish to win by 10m in a fast 1.53.37. A personal best from Andrew Holliman secured third in the B string.

Damian Nevins was fourth in the 1,500m A final, with Jonathan Collier coming home in fifth place in the B event.

Sean Ledger matched that showing in the 5,000m A string and Martin Matthews went one better by coming fourth in the B final.

Florian Vogel’s 15.88 secured fifth in the 110m hurdles, Saoirse Chinery-Edoo racing to fourth in a hotly-contested B string.

Matt Carey returned after injury to win the steeplechase in a solid 9.38.9.

Dave Sketchley won his third consecutive British League javelin competition, with a good 57.73m while Sam Stanton enjoyed a dream debut, taking the B string with a new personal best of 41.86m.

Dariusz Slowik scored good points in all three heavy throws while Chinery-Edoo won the B string discus with 38.88m.

Harrow’s 4 x 100m relay runners managed a fourth-place finish and the 4 x 400 team ended up down in seventh position.
