ADAM Reed is happy to stay at Brentford for the rest of the season.

The Sunderland midfielder finally made his Bees debut in Saturday's defeat at his home town, Hartlepool, two weeks after initially joining on loan.

Reed earned his first start against Brighton three days later, and was praised by Nicky Forster in his post-match press conference.

The 19-year-old is initially on loan at Brentford for a month, but he insists he will be happy to stay longer if Black Cats boss Steve Bruce agrees, and Bees manager Forster wants him.

He said: "I've been mainly playing reserve team football at Sunderland, although I have been training with the first team and been on the bench a few times.

"I've come here as I want to play some proper football and get games under my belt, and I'd be happy to stay for the rest of the season if the chance comes.

"A lot of the lads who have reached the top started out with loan spells lower down the leagues – like Rio Ferdinand, Jermaine Defoe, Frank Lampard and David Beckham."
