CLAYTON Donaldson believes Brentford had plenty to be positive about in their 2-0 defeat to promotion-chasing Sheffield United on Saturday.

The Bees had plenty of possession and played some neat football, but their attack came up short against a defensively well-drilled Blades side.

It was mistakes at the other end which really cost the hosts, but Donaldson reckons they can take heart from the overall performance.

He said: “The early goal was a real setback for us because we had really come out of the traps flying and attacking them from the off.

“It was always going to be hard coming back from that against a team like them. It was hard to break them down and they were very tight at the back.

“We kept possession and passed it around, and we were definitely the better team, so those are the positives we can take out of it.

“On the down side, we let in two goals from silly mistakes, which is something we had cut out lately, and who knows which way the game would have gone without them?”
