Watch out anyone playing St Benedict’s at netball in the near future.

The Ealing school edged closer to becoming court queens last week as a result of a master class from ex-England U17 netball captain, Samantha Perry.

Around 40 pupils were wiser for Perry’s words that went with a warm-up game of ‘tag’ netball as part of an instructive morning on the Eaton Rise school's playing fields at Perivale.

GetWestLondon sport is delighted to share some of the tips imparted by Perry and retold by Benny players.

Star coach: Perry passes on tips

Goal shooter Annie Gorard was instructed: “Even if your bib says that you are an attacker you still need to defend.”

This from Ella Marron, goal attack/centre: “I learnt how to make space for myself by dodging when I am behind another player.”

And Perry told centre Emily Nicholson-Stanwix: “When the opposition are in possession I have to mark the ball so that I have a chance to intercept.”

School netball coach Kate Mazey aded: "Samantha is a great role-model for our young netball players and it was amazing for them be coached by someone who has played at the highest level.

“She made everyone believe that you can be successful if you work hard and listen to your coaches.”
