Hounslow badminton star Rajiv Ouseph will take some time off after being beaten at the Li-Ning BWF World Championships on Wednesday night.

Ouseph could not reproduce the form which took him past 16th seed Chong Wei Feng the previous day as he went out against Kidambi Srikanth 21-18 21-13 in 36 minutes.

And following his second round exit in Copenhagen to the Indian and his exploits at the Commonwealth Games, he is ready for a bit of a rest.

Ouseph said: “I couldn’t quite get to the same level as yesterday. I wasn’t quite there, I was trying.

“I had my chances at the end of the first to come back at 17-16 but it was tough. He was very quick.

“I was trying everything out there but it didn’t work.

“Now I will take a bit of time off after this and the Commonwealths. But it’s a bit disappointing after the previous day. It’s hard to produce back to back wins at this level.”

Ouseph was meeting Srikanth for the first time with the England player one place ahead in the world rankings at 22.

But he struggled to cope with the Indian player’s speed from the outset.

He trailed 15-10 in the opener but recovered to lead 17-16 but that was the only time he was in front in the whole match as Srikanth surged away in the second game to clinch the contest.
