ON Tuesday, August 26 the day after flying back from Beijing as part
of the triumphant Team GB, Jamie Staff winner of a Gold Medal in the
Team Sprint track cycling event at the Olympics visited the Hillingdon
Cycle Circuit in Hayes.

Jamie was welcomed by Cllr Henry Higgins the borough's Cabinet Member
for Culture, Sport and Leisure, and Hillingdon Cycle Circuit Users Group
Chairman Stuart Benstead.

Jamie then met members of the Hillingdon Slipstreamers youth cycling
club, which is based at the Circuit. The young riders were thrilled to
meet Jamie who showed them his gold medal, posed for photographs and
patiently answered their questions about cycling and the Olympics.

A Channel 5 TV reporter and crew then interviewed Jamie, who stressed
the importance of facilities such as the Hayes Circuit to encourage
youngsters to participate in cycle sport. The Slipstreamers then cycled
several laps of theonr-mile Circuit with Jamie in the lead accompanied by
the reporter and crew.

<strong>Note:</strong> Hillingdon Slipstreamers is a youth cycling club for five to 16 year
olds that meets at the Hillingdon Cycle Circuit, Springfield Road, Hayes,
every Saturday morning from 10 to 12 noon. Prospective new members are
welcome to visit any Saturday morning.
The club holds British Cyling's "Go-Ride" and Sport England's "Clubmark" accreditations, with cycle
coaching and training provided by qualified volunteer coaches.
