YOUNG-gun Rhys Murphy wants to be the next Eduardo.

The Arsenal youngster is yet to feature for Arsene Wenger's first team, and joined Brentford on a three-month loan on Tuesday.

He made a disappointing debut as substitute in the defeat at Wycombe the same day.

But the England Youth international striker hopes he can emulate the Croatian international and be a hit at the Emirates.

He said: "When I was younger I looked up to Thierry Henry, and, more recently, you've got Robin Van Persie and Adebayor as well. They're great strikers to look up to.

"But I think I'd class myself in the Eduardo mould. I'm not saying I'm anywhere near that standard yet, but he's someone I definitely look up to.

"I like to link the play if I can, and if I could get anywhere close to Eduardo's standard that would be good!"

Murphy came through the ranks in north London, and has been taught to play the game the same way as Wenger's stars.

And the 19-year-old hopes he can bring a bit of flowing football to Brentford.

"I've been at Arsenal since I was 13," he said, "and will try to bring what I've learned there to Brentford.

"The manager here wants us to get the ball down, like we do at Arsenal, but there's also times when you're not going to be able to do that.

"I want to do as well as I can while I'm here. This is an opportunity for me, and I want to take it."

Murphy failed to make an impact after coming on as a first-half substitute for Charlie MacDonald at Adams Park, and was taken off himself late on.

But boss Andy Scott has backed him to produce the goods – given the right service.

He said: "Rhys didn't get the ball, and found it difficult to get into the game. He looked sharp but we never put him in areas where he's going to get into it."
