Kenton Lawn Tennis Club have started the Middlesex summer League with mixed results.
The Ladies 1st team started the campaign with a 16-8 win at home to Paddington. The team consisted of Hazel Adams, Elena Synesi, Lucy Allman, Liz Barker, Alison Hedley and Mel Clements. Hazel and Elena won two sets, and Lucy and Liz and Alison and Mel claimed three sets.
The Ladies did not fair so well in the Middlesex Cup competition, however, losing 6-3 to Winchmore Hill.
The ladies 2nd team have played their first two league matches.
At home against GSK they had an excellent good start with a 22-2 win, but they then lost 8-16 away at Wayfarers.
The mens 3rd team opened up away at Lowlands, and lost 4-20. The final match score was a bit harsh because the team played well and several sets were extremely close.
Altxxxgh they then lost 10-14 at home to Wayfarers, there were some encouraging signs that the players are quite capable of doing well this season.
Ben Dooley and Niall Brazil played exceptionally well to win three out of their four sets, while Jhangir Mahmood and Dave Clague, who returned to the team after being abroad on work, played good solid tennis to win two out of their four sets
The men's 5th team started their new campaign with a resounding 20-4 win at Harrow Weald. The team consisted of Peter Pilides, Peter Denholm, Sarper Imren, Martin Strong, Peter Perkins and Tom Boyce.
The boys under-16 first team started off their season with a well deserved victory. The team of Sam Wilkins, Fahim Khandwalla, Gio Pilides and Owen O'Neill-Khaled beat a good West Middlesex side by eight points to four.
