HILLINGDON AC wererepresented by a substantial number of runners at the recent Southern Masters Cross-country Championships.
Andy Miles led the way for the over-50 men as he finished 28th in 37mins 43secs over the 10,000m course at Biggleswade in Bedfordshire.
Stevan Dokic was 63rd in 40.24 and John Myall came in 87th in 42.17 to help the club finish 11th out of 28 teams.
Martin Searle (107th, 43.59), Brian Feldman (146th, 48.20), John Mulliner (148th, 49.14), Doug Milsom (150th, 50.15), Philip Welch (152nd, 50.45), Steve Patterson (153rd, 50.49) and Tony Shaw (154th, 50.58) completed the club contingent.
Hillingdon were also 11th in the men's over-40 age group out of 21 teams thanks to Steve Hirons (38th, 36.00), Pete Warburton (47th, 36.52) and Richard Jenkin (54th, 37.43), supported by Simon Claridge (63rd, 38.35) and
David Smith (84th, 40.26). Feldman (47th, 48.20), Milsom (50th, 50.15) and Welch (52nd, 50.45) took the club to eighth place in the over-60 men's competition, backed up by Patterson (53rd, 50.49) and Shaw (54th, 50.58), while Mick Miller was second in the over-70 men's race after completing the 6,000m course in 29.17. Jo Miles covered the 6,000m distance in 36.59 to finish 58th in the women's over-45 event. [25a0] John Franklin came home an excellent 44th out of almost 2,000 finishers in the Watford Half Marathon to lead home eight fellow members of Hillingdon Triathletes.
Franklin stopped the clock at 1hr 20mins precisely to finish ahead of Ian Gould (129th, 1.28.03), Oliver Jones (151st, 1.28.04), Melissa Arkinstall (270th overall, 24th woman, 1.32.30), Ed Darnell (401st, 1.36.07), Andy Mansi (532nd, 1.39.21), Martin Bowd (541st, 1.39.26), Nicholas Wilson (607th, 1.40.31) and Jacob Gloor (849th, 1.45.35).
