AFC Wimbledon have shown the door to young midfielder Huw Johnson .
The 20-year-old came through the Kingsmeadow ranks and featured 11 times last campaign, but hasn't played since the beginning of December.
Johnson still had 12 months to run on his deal with the Dons, along with fellow youngster Frankie Merrifield , whose future remains in the balance.
However, Neal Ardley has added Johnson to the mass cull that saw nine players axed earlier this month.
The Wimbledon manager told Dons Player : “With the pressures of fighting relegation last season, I wasn’t able to offer Huw many opportunities.
“At Huw’s age and at this stage of his career, he needs to be playing first-team football.
“We can’t guarantee him that next season and we know that there are clubs interested in him.
“It therefore seemed best for all parties that he be free to decide where he wants to go to further his career.
“I’d like to thank Huw for his contribution to the club and wish him well in his future career.”
