HARROW-BORN Marc McCarroll is relishing the prospect of making Wimbledon debut in Wimbledon with partner Gordon Reid.

The competition comes hot on the heels of the pair's recent venture to the quarter finals of the BNP Paribas French Open.

After hard fought victories in the open rounds in Paris, McCarroll and Reid made a good start to their last eight match against Japanese duo Shingo Kunieda and Takuyu Miki, eventually losing 4-6 6-4 6-1.

Both McCaroll and Reid have been handed a wild card into the elite four pairings of the Men's doubles.

The two-time Wimbledon winners from Holland, Robin Ammerlaan and Ronald Vink await the Brits in the semi-final on Saturday, and McCaroll is looking forward to getting onto the courts.

“I'm very excited to be playing at my home Grand Slam for the first time," said McCarroll. "Me and Gordon have had a good season so far, including winning our first ITF 1 Series title together in South Africa, and played well for a good portion of our quarter-final in France last week, we just let our level dip after a set and a half.

“It will be a tough semi-final against Robin and Ronald, but after a couple of days training on the grass this week we can hopefully pull out a big performance."

After the Wimbledon competition, the pair play in the British Open in Nottingham in two weeks time and then compete in the Paralympic Games in London in September.
