Louise Innes and Adam Plavsic were crowned Acton Swimming Club's Swimmers of 2008 this week by head coach Giuseppe Caporaso.

Plavsic, 11, also won the John Bell Cup for best performance in the club championships.

He won every event and broke four records, giving him the edge over Ahmed El Masry, the 14/15 years winner, Tomoro Matsui, winner of the eight years races and the Academy Cup for most improved swimmer, and Matthew Plavsic, the nine years victor.

In Matthew's group, Michael Vangelatos and Philip Dimitrijevic shared silver while Ieuan Beetham, Noa Schinas, Pablo Power and Anthony Choi took bronze.

In the eight-years competition, Nabeel Showman took four silvers and Elliott Foster one silver and the Salisbury cup for attendance.

Daniel Leznin, seven, making an impressive debut, won four medals and Taketo Eguchi fourth place rosettes.

Louise Innes won the 11-years group, sharing the John Bell Cup with Maisie Preston, who dominated the 12/13 years events. Innes was spurred on by silver medallist Alexandra Vangelatos, while Kasia Krynska and Lily Guy took bronze. Sioned Bryant and Aukse Vijeikyte won silver in the 12/13 age group, with Sophie Szyszko and Alice Kuzmenko close behind.

Tracey Kain, queen of the masters, broke two records with Shona Pineda in second place.

Louise Walsh won three cups and Megan Richards and Agatka Krynska one each in the eight-years group. Alice Awdry and Amina Sebaa won bronze. Microseconds separated Maggie Innes, winner of three events, and Isabel Barnes who won two finals and the Academy and Salisbury Cups.

Other medallists were Sorcha Gorman, Helena Phillips and Martha Trevail.

In the 10-years group, Takuro Matsui won the medley and Rotex Cup for service. Lewis Rodriguez won four cups and other medals went to Noah Harrowes, Corbyn Hales, Thomas Warren and Joseph Kaczorowski.

Hannah Compton won two and Anna Szyzko three cups, with Cameron Roker and Meltem Ozen just behind. Josh Wood and Mohammed Hammad were runners up and other medallists were Markian O'Brien, Adam Aubeelack and Nikita Kuznetsov.

A titanic battle culminated in three victories for Tatsuki Kawagishi and two for Ryan Beresford in the 12/13 group.

Jordan de Zoysa and Max Honigsbaum won silver and Kanro Matsui and Hasan El Masry shared other awards.

Bianca de Zoysa won the Rotex Cup for service and three finals, while Ugne Vijeikyte took two cups.

In the masters' competition, Anthony Kay, Ian Pritchard, Dominic Ranajara and Malcolm Munro, who was master swimmer of the year, shared the trophies.
