A NEW six-a-side football league is being launched in Ealing.

Organisers Leisure Leagues will run the competition at the Swift Road Sports & Leisure Centre in Southall.

Teams must pay to play each week but there are no joining fees and all teams will receive a free retro team kit.

Leisure Leagues manager Chris Rowntree said: "We run leagues right across the country and although most of the teams come from local amateur clubs, the majority of our teams are simply made up of work colleagues, pub teams, or groups of friends.

"This means the standard can be very varied but we will be providing different divisions for different standards so every-body is given the opportunity to play a competitive game of football once a week with the chance of winning prizes."

Matches will be played on Wednesdays between 7.30pm and 9.30pm, with both the winners and runners-up receiving trophies for each individual player, and the bottom team in the division getting a silver-plated 'wooden' spoon.

There will also be player of the season awards.

Anyone who wants to register a team for Ealing should telephone 0845 230 2340 or register online at www.leisureleagues.net.
