BRENTFORD conceded deep into injury-time as they were held by Blue Square Premier side Gateshead.
Goals from Carl Cort and Kevin O'Connor (pictured) looked like sending the Bees through after cancelling out Lewis Price's own goal.
But on-loan Scunthorpe winger Peter Winn smashed the ball home three minutes into stoppage time as honours ended even.
After a dismal first half, the hosts made the early running after the interval, with Price saving Daryl Clare's point-blank shot.
But from the resulting corner, the Bees keeper dropped Winn's set piece into his own net.
However, Andy Scott's side hauled themselves level when Cort headed Ryan Dickson's cross past Paul Farman.
The visitors got their noses in front when O'Connor crashed home a left-footed volley from the edge of the box after Gateshead failed to clear Sam Saunders' free-kick.
And Bees defender James Wilson should have put the tie beyond doubt 10 minutes from time, but his header hit the bar from eight yards.
Price's late save from Kris Gate looked like earning the Londoners victory, but Winn had other ideas, lashing ball into the roof of the net after Brentford failed to clear Armand One's flick-on.
