Last weekend saw the annual reunion of Kenton Road Club's 'Old Joes' at Pulborough in West Sussex.

Three of the 18 senior members still live in Harrow - club chairman Gino Goddard, treasurer Doug Cannings and Mike Fanning.

The other 15, all of whom once lived in Harrow, included long distance travellers Ron Lismey from Tucson, Arizona and France-based Dave Macleod-Cullinane. Others from the UK included Roy Cannings (Somerset), John Watson (Norfolk), Dennis Lock (Gloucester) and John Lewis (Dorset).

Fifteen of the members, many now over 70 years old, took part in the traditional 30-mile Saturday ride, and all enjoyed the winter sunshine. They praised Kenton organ-iser Norman Saxby, for the well-planned weekend.

Meanwhile, with just two races remaining in his summer racing calendar, Kenton's Des Gayler competed in the LVRC Time Trial Championships in the Bambury/Warwick area last Sunday.

From the 70 starters Gayler came 30th overall and eighth in his age group, finishing the punishing 22.5 mile course in 57.10, several seconds behind race winner Andy Meilak (51.03).
