Ickenham's Marc McCarroll completed back-to-back tournaments in North America over the weekend having won three titles from four events in two weeks after retaining the men’s singles and doubles titles at the Tennis Canada International Wheelchair Tennis Championships in Montreal.

The British No. 2 beat Brazil’s Rafael Medeiros 6-3, 6-4 and Canada’s Joel Dembe 6-4, 6-0 en route to that turned out to be his toughest task in the men’s singles when he secured a 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 semi-final win over French third seed Lahcen Majdi

The Harrow-born world No. 11 arrived in Montreal having lost out to fellow Brit David Phillipson in the semi-finals of the PTR Championships on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina. However, McCarroll produced a much-improved performance when the doubles partners met in the men’s singles final in Canada, with top seeding McCarroll earning a 6-3, 6-4 victory for his first singles title of 2014.

“I am very pleased to have defended my titles from last year. It was great to come back from last week’s disappointment of losing to Dave and to turn it around and win in straight sets this week is really pleasing,” said McCarroll. ”I am hoping I can carry on the success of this week to have a strong end to the year leading into the start of the Rio 2016 qualification period next year.”

Britain’s second and third ranked men’s players on the Tennis Foundation Wheelchair Tennis Performance Programme teamed up to great effect once again in the doubles to clinch their second title in successive weeks. McCarroll and Phillipson reached the final in Montreal for the loss of just four games and went on to beat Canadian second seeds Philippe Bedard and Dembe 6-2, 6-3 in the final to add to their men’s doubles title in Hilton Head and give McCarroll his third doubles title of the season, all of which have been won in North America.
