Jon Hughes has been appointed as chief executive of the London Youth Games Foundation.

Hughes is a former head of sport at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and a trustee and board member of StreetGames, a UK charity for delivering sport to children from underprivileged communities.

He is an active golf and tennis enthusiast and enjoyed a successful student rowing career at the University of Cardiff.

Hughes said: “London Youth Games plays a key role in the London sporting landscape and I am proud and excited to have been chosen as the new chief executive.

"I am hugely looking forward to being part of the team as it continues to develop and improve the way it provides a high quality sporting experience for young people from across the capital.”

London Youth Games Foundation chairman, Mark Campbell, said: "We are delighted to have recruited Jon to join the team at London Youth Games.

"His skills and experience in sport and government relations will be invaluable for providing the type of leadership needed in the coming years."
