Sonning 1

Eastcote 9

Eastcote thrashed Sonning 9-1 at the weekend, but were still not satisfied.

Kevin Haigh passed 30 league goals for the season as he got on the scoresheet four times, while Alex Stobbart contributed two and Sam Forster, David Cooper and James O’Shea each netted.

However, despite the stunning scoreline the Eastcote players were left ruing a number of missed opportunities that would have taken them into double digits.

Next they face a double header as they host Marlow in the league, before travelling to Kent for a Trophy quarter-final against Gore Court.

The seconds lost to promotion rivals Newbury & Thatcham 4-2 with goals from Richard Hall and Kern Sorzano.

Promotion is within reach for the fourths after they dispatched Aylesbury 5-2 with goals from Jat Chana, Paul Lota, Nihal Shah and a brace from Jas Nijar.

The fifths beat Witney 1-0 thanks to a Chris MacLannan goal, while the sixths lost 5-0 to Bicester and the Eagles went down 5-3 to Amershan and Chalfont despite two from Graham Dale.

A 7-0 victory saw Old Boars climb to the top of the table with braces from Mark Fitzgerald, Mike Pell, Mark Defanis and one from Adrian Carter.

A disappointing weekend for the Past Masters saw them go down 4-3 at St Albans on Saturday and get knocked out of the EH Plate on Sunday after a 2-0 defeat to Tunbridge Wells.

The ladies’ firsts enjoyed a half-term break, while the other four teams all recorded victories in an impressive weekend of action.

Four from Sophie Castle saw the seconds beat Southgate 6-3, the thirds beat Hendon & Mill Hill 3-0, the fourths stay top of the league with a 4-1 win over West Hampstead and the fifths also beat Hendon & Mill Hill recording a 6-0 victory.

The boys U14s were crowned Mercian North League Champions as they beat Crostyx 5-0 and now qualify for the south play-offs in April.

Elsewhere, Old Uxonians were no match for Old Merchant Taylors’ Duchesses as they were dispatched 7-0.
