Eastcote 2

Staines Seconds 1

Eastcote avoided an upset against struggling Staines seconds – but it was tougher than it should have been.

Both sides had chances but in the end it was the hosts who claimed the points to extend their recent winning streak. Alex Stobbart opened the scoring and David Cooper secured the points with a second goal after the restart.

Meanwhile, Eastcote’s seconds went top of their league thanks to a 2-1 win at Witney with goals from Fil de Costa and Isaac Hall.

With two games to go, just one win will guarantee promotion.

The thirds are in a similar position, with a last-minute penalty stroke ensuring a 3-2 win against Windsor. Andy Innes got two and Paul Wright hit the other.

Eastcote fourths, already crowned league champions, beat second-placed Reading University 3-1 with Jat Chana, Tim Fitzgerald and Conor Taylor scoring.

The fifths lost 5-1 to Wycombe with a Jamie Nicholls consolation. The sixths gave their relegation battle a boost with a 4-0 win against Windsor with an Anil Seedher hat-trick and one from Chris Butler.

Eascote’s Old Boars captured some silverware with a 5-3 win at Bromley & Beckenham, thanks to a Mark Defanis hat-trick and goals from Phil Montgomery and Gareth Amos. The Past Masters’ poor recent run continued with a 3-0 loss at Old Loughtonians.

The Eastcote ladies side’s poor run of form came to an end on Saturday as they managed to secure a point against fellow relegation battlers Henley – but it was not enough to seal their relegation to the South Division Three.

There were losses for the seconds and thirds, however the fourths finished as undefeated champions, having beaten the club’s fifths on Saturday. Sophie Norman, Lesley Lavers, Emily Walker, Laura Shepherd and two from junior Georgie Cooper, got the job done.

Elsewhere, Old Uxonians signed off with a 4-0 defeat to Staines thirds despite strong showings from Wendy Davidson and Amanda Lobley.
