EHL PREMIER H'STEAD & WESTMINSTER.......3 Beeston...............................................1

WILL NAYLOR hit his first hat-trick of the season, and robbed the visitors of their chance of the title on Sunday at the same time.

The Paddington-based side launched themselves at Beeston and Naylor struck on nine minutes from a penalty corner.

Richard Stamp did the same to restore hope to the Nottingham team before the break. And the second half saw H&W repel a no-holds barred assault from Beeston, who knew only a win would keep them in the title race.

Just as the game was heading towards a point apiece, Naylor popped up again to score twice in the last four minutes and leave his team a respectable seventh out of 10, having fought a relegation battle for most of the campaign.

East Grinstead went on to win the elite league by one point. Reading were second and Beeston third.
