Young badminton players from St Helen’s School, in Hillingdon, will have the opportunity to represent their borough at the Balfour Beatty London Youth Games.

The KS3 females came through qualifying rounds this month to secure their place at the games.

On February 6, the St Helens girls confirmed their place with victory at the Harrow Leisure Centre.

The team will now compete at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre on March 24.

The four qualifiers were held over two weeks and saw schools from all across London battling it out for a place at Crystal Palace.

The side will face tough competition from the likes of Bancrofts, from Redbridge, who earned a silver medal in last year’s tournament.

Badminton is one of 31 sports in the 2015 Balfour Beatty London Youth Games, which is Europe’s largest annual youth sports event and is driving the legacy for increased participation in competitive sport and volunteering for young Londoners.
