BOROUGH fans were given a tantalising glimpse of the club's future last week as the second string side, masquerading as the first XI, dumped Conference South outfit Fisher Athletic out of the London Senior Cup.

Harrow led 2-1 through Kurt Morlese and Dean Fenton but Fisher kept the tie alive with an 85th minute equaliser. However, the drama was far from over as Morlese missed a penalty in stoppage time in extra time.

However, he nailed his spot kick in the penalty shoot-out at Champion Hill as Harrow's youngsters kept their nerve to prevail 5-4, booking a home semi final clash against Croydon on Monday, April 6. "It was our reserve side really and I'll probably stick with the same side for the semi finals as we play our League Cup final against Tilbury at Staines two days later," said manager David Howell. "The lads played really well and we got the result despite going about it in a complex way.

"When they equalised late on and Kurt missed a penalty we felt it was going to be Fisher's day, but all our penalties were exceptional and Fisher just happened to miss one."

Harrow gave senior debuts to several players and nerves were evident early on when Harrow defender Naaman Gordon hacked a goal-bound effort off the line.

Skipper Miles Jones then put Josiah Hunte away down the left and his low drive across goal was converted at the far post by Morlese.

Warren Whitely and Hunte were thwarted by Fisher goalkeeper Robinson during the early exchanges of the second half before they equalised on the hour. Richard McCabe could only parry a shot and Wayne Grant was on hand to slot home.

However, Harrow restored their lead three minutes later after good work by Gordon and Jones saw Fenton glide into the box before setting up Aaron Cato for a neat finish.

Nick Salapatas and Pepe Sidiki went close to extending Harrow's lead before they came unstuck from a free kick with five minutes left, Pat O'Donnell the Fisher benefactor from some hesitant defending.

Chances came and went in the extra 30 minutes before Morlese's late penalty beat Robinson but not the woodwork.

The first nine penalties were converted in the shoot-out - Jones, Whitely, Morlese, Fenton and Charlie Ball for Borough - before Schoburgh scooped his kick high over the bar for Fisher.
