The 28-year-old Harrow Athletic Club star, Abi Oyepitan, Katherine Endacott and Montell Douglas surged to glory in the final of the women's 4x100m event in Delhi earlier today.

The England team completed the race in 44.18, well clear of Ghana and India who came second and third respectively.

Speaking exclusively to the Observer just hours after securing gold Turner said: “This is the best moment of my career. We knew we had a good chance but we also knew nobody was just going to give us the gold medal."

Meanwhile, her Harrow AC club-mate, Andy Baddeley finished sixth in the men's 1,500m final.
