FA VASE FIRST ROUND Tiptree United 1 Harefield United 0 (AET, 0-0 90 mins)

HAREFIELD bowed out of the FA Vase in the first round after an extra-time defeat at 10-man Tiptree on Saturday.

With the game goalless after 90 minutes, the hosts capitalised on a poor clearance when Steve Wareham fired home the only goal of the game to send the Hares tumbling out.

Earlier, visiting keeper Carl Tasker had to be alert to keep Tiptree at bay, while at the other end, Adam Willis forced the home keeper into a good save and Craig Totton saw a chance fizz past the post.

Both sides struggled to cope with the blustery conditions with chances hard to come by, Tasker blocking another effort and Danny Buckle heading straight at the keeper.Tiptree had a player sent for an early bath for a second booking as the game headed into the added 30.

But it didn't stop them striking the decisive blow to send them through to the second round. [25a0] Even Bratland's brace helped the U10s to victory against FC Holyport on Sunday, with Harry Acton, Harry Tucker and Thomas Lea also on the mark in the 5-0 win.

It made amends for the 2-1 reverse to St James Ospreys the previous day, despite Matt Byrne's effort.
