BRENTFORD are poised to announce the signing of Walsall striker Will Grigg later today, the Chronicle understands.

We exclusively revealed last week that the Bees were closing in on the capture of the Northern Ireland international, who scored 20 goals last season.

Uwe Rosler told the Chronicle at the weekend that Brentford were ready to announce their latest new recruit on July 1, and it is believed Grigg will be unveiled this afternoon after his contract at the Bescot Stadium expired yesterday.

However, the Saddlers will be entitled to compensation for the 21-year-old, who was offered a new deal at the League One club.

Grigg's capture will be a big coup for the Bees, with the Solihull-born striker reportedly attracting interest from Aston Villa earlier this year.
