Harrow Borough manager David Howell is facing up to a goalkeeper crisis just one game in to his side's pre-season campaign.

Trialist goalkeepers Jamie Admin and Yannick Nlate suffered injuries in the warm up and first half respectively on Saturday, leaving Howell with little choice to put outfield player Danny McGonigle between the posts.

McGonigle himself was about to be substituted after coming off the pitch at Charterhouse School with blood pouring from his nose, however the flow was stemmed and he hardly had a save to make in a dominant second half from the visitors.

With regular first choice stopper Andray Baptiste helping out his international side in Grenada and a no-show from his understudy Keita Karamoko, Howell faces a race against time to get a goalkeeper for Tuesday's trip to Hillingdon Borough.

Godalming also suffered goalkeeper woes, losing theirs early in the first half after coming off second best in a challenge.

Barring Admin Howell gave game time to the rest of his 17 man squad, which included several trialists and new signings Troy Hewitt and Eduardo Carlos Dos Santos.

Defender Jamie Bolar looked solid if unspectacular, right winger Troy Strachan displayed some neat touches and centre half Clayton Dixon had a busy first half.

A mix-up between former Haringey Borough stopper Nlate and Simon Dahl, not helped by a cynical push on Dahl, led to Godalming striker Richard Shittu, older brother of Bolton Wanderers star Dan, opening the scoring around the 20 minute mark.

The second half introduction of another trialist, Anthony Charlton and giant defender Dean Marney turned the tide in Borough's favour.

Charlton, in the middle of the park, looked comfortable on the ball and sprayed passes to all parts with confidence. Man mountain Marney, meanwhile, kept Godalming's attack in check with ease.

Second half substitute Charles Adeyemi levelled for the visitors after rounding the goalkeeper and he should have won it late on, only to blaze over the bar after bursting clear.
