ALASSANE N’Diaye wants to get his career back on track with Hayes & Yeading after a frustrating first three years in English football.

The 22-year-old former Crystal Palace striker signed for Nas Bashir’s side two weeks ago and made his debut as a substitute in last Sunday’s FA Cup exit to Boreham Wood.

N’Diaye started his career with Sochaux in France before moving to Palace and making his debut in August 2009 in a promising start to life with the Eagles, before his first-team appearances dried up.

He finished 2010–11 on loan at Swindon Town, suffering relegation from League One, before joining up with Southend United the following season.

The French-Senegalese failed to make an impact and a reported training ground bust-up saw his loan cut short and he left Palace by mutual consent soon after, leaving him in the wilderness before being picked up by Barnet.

N’Diaye has promised there would be no repeat of what he called ‘stupid problems’, which led to him leaving Southend, and admitted making the starting line-up would not be easy after moving to Kingfield from Underhill.

“I want to bring goals and go up,” N’Diaye told the Gazette after making his United bow.

“We want to win the league. We’ve got the players, we can do it.”

“I’ve been playing as a midfielder and as a striker, but I’ve decided to play as a striker. I feel more comfortable as a striker. I have to train well and work hard to play, it’s as simple as that.”

Hayes & Yeading now have impressive attacking options, including top scorer Kudus Oyenuga and another recent signing, Ryan O’Toole, who scored 50 goals in as many games for Windsor.

The capture of N’Diaye means Bashir has now ended his interest in veteran forward Scott McGleish, who the United boss had been considering as an alternative target man.

“We’ve got five strikers and I’m happy with what I’ve got,” Bashir said.

“The big boy [N’Diaye] is 22 and has got a lot of potential. Our club needs to work with young players and push them forward.”
