LOUIE Soares has completed his move to Hayes & Yeading after being released by Grimsby Town this summer.

The midfielder is a fans’ favourite from his first stint with United in 2011-12 when he netted 15 times in 31 matches.

That sparkling form is what persuaded Grimsby to swoop for him on transfer deadline day in January 2012 as he penned an 18-month deal.

But the move didn’t work out and loan spells at Ebbsfleet and Alfreton followed as he looked to prove his worth to his parent club.

Grimsby though did not welcome him back and showed him the door in May, with a trial at Woking coming to nothing in July.

He turned out in Hayes & Yeading’s final pre-season game at Arlesey Town and scored a stunning strike to show exactly what he still has to offer.

A knee injury picked up at the end of the 2-1 win last month looked to have scuppered a move as Soares faced a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

However, the former Aldershot Town man has recovered quickly and the Gazette understands he is in contention to face Chelmsford City this weekend.
