Ealing Swimming Club had a hugely profitable summer as two national competitions provided both medal successes and more than 10 new junior club records.

The club had some notable moments at the ASA National Age Group Championships and the National Youth Championships in Sheffield

Katy Avramova stole the show at the National Youth Championships (for over 15s), claiming gold in both the 50m and 100m backstroke in the 19 and over category.

She followed those successes with a silver in the 200m backstroke and set a new Middlesex County Senior record by finishing fourth in the 100m freestyle.

Ziggy Franchi-Webster produced a stunning display on the final day of the competition to take bronze in the 50m freestyle, before joining up with Ben Levart, Ade Coker and Adam Plavsic to set another new club record in the 4x200m freestyle relay where the team finished 10th.

Cristian Rotundu and Lucy Thornton set new club records in the male and female 100m butterfly events respectively while the former also enjoyed personal bests in the 50m and 100m backstroke as well as the 50m butterfly.

Coker, Levart and Maisie Jameson all achieved personal best times, Plavsic scored a season's best and Sofia Tedeschi-Atkins and Pooja Gupta played a crucial part in the relay teams in Sheffield.

In the National Age Group event (for ages 11 to 14), Jahrel Murphy was the star as he produced a number of excellent swims.

Along with setting new club record times in the 100m butterfly and his leg of the team 4x100m freestyle, Murphy secured an individual silver medal in the 100m backstroke.

He then joined up with Oscar Jameson, Miles Clark and Reef Hook to set another new junior club record time in the 4x100m medley relay to claim a bronze medal.

Ben Hooper impressed in the 200m butterfly with a personal best and a seventh place finish while Paige Powell followed suit by finishing ninth in the 100m and 200m freestyle events, also with personal bests.

Outside of the pool, there was success for Erin Nabney, who transferred her impressive indoor form to win silver in the 2K Open Water race at Rother Valley Country Park in a time of 24 minutes 48 seconds.

Ealing head coach Dave Hitchcock hailed his team for their fantastic performances, stating that every competitor 'gave each race their best shot and the overall results, both individually and in the relay events, were very pleasing'.
