COACH Alan Kernaghan has told his Brentford troops that draws are no good now – they must go all out for wins if they are to make the play-offs.

Tuesday night's 2-0 win over Exeter City moved the Bees up to ninth in League One, and if they win their two games in hand, would displace Notts County in the sixth and final play-off place.

However, Carlisle and Stevenage, in seventh and eight, also have games in hand and are better placed than Brentford to sneak into the end-of-season lottery.

Ahead of tomorrow's home game with promotion-chasing Sheffield United, Kernaghan issued a rallying call to his side, who have now won their last three home games and are unbeaten at Griffin Park since November.

He said: “Draws are no goods to us now, we need to put together a run of four or five wins in a row if we are to make the play-offs.

“It seems that we have been in this position all season, just in touch with the play-off places but not quite there, and it would need one big final push to make it.

“We're looking really confident at home now – but I'm afraid I can't say why we're so good at home now, where we were poor in the first half of the season, while the opposite is true of away games – I wish I did know the answer!”
