Triathlon : For someone who is used to winning just about everything Sky Draper had the unusual experience of finishing third on Saturday.

The 13-year-old Northwood College schoolgirl did extremely well to make the last three of 220 Triathlon magazine's Young Triathlete of the Year award, which was presented at a dinner held at Sandown Race Course.

James Witts, the magazine editor, described Draper as "frighteningly quick for her age" but she was pipped to the top prize by two 18-year-old elite triathletes.

Jonathan Brownlee won gold at the Youth Olympics and bronze at the World Junior Triathlon Championships but even that was not good enough to win the prize which was claimed by Hollie Avil, the senior British Triathlon Champion and GB Olympian at Beijing.

Draper was particularly delighted to sit next to one of her idols, Chrissie Wellington, the World Ironman Champion for the last two years. Wellington collected two awards at the event including the Women's Elite Triathlete of the Year.
