AFC Wimbledon have made an enquiry for Brentford centre-back Pim Balkestein .

Dons boss Terry Brown is desperate to bolster his backline after a string of disastrous displays has seen them slide closer to the League Two drop zone.

The Dutchman has failed to force his way into the starting XI at Griffin Park, and spent the first half of the season on loan at Rochdale.

And Brown confirmed the 24-year-old former Ipswich defender is among his targets.

He said: “We have had talks. He's on our list, but it's a pretty big one.”
