PIM Balkestein hopes his loan spell at AFC Wimbledon can catapult him back into Uwe Rosler's plans.

The Brentford defender made the temporary switch to Kingsmeadow this week - as revealed by the Chronicle - and went straight into the side for Saturday's vital win against Dagenham.

Balkestein has made just two appearances since Rosler took over at Griffin Park in the summer, and spent the first half of the season on loan at Rochdale.

However, the 24-year-old Dutchman, who still has a year remaining on his contract in TW8, is determined to force his way back into Rosler's thoughts.

He said: “I spoke to the manager and he said there was an opportunity to go on loan.

“With Karleigh Osborne and Marcel Eger on their way back from injury the squad is getting bigger and my chances were limited.

“But I hope I can do my best, show the boss what I can do and force my way back into the team.”
