IT was a case of déjà vu for Jess Eddie and the GB women’s eight rowers on Thursday morning when they finished fifth in the London 2012 final.

Eddie, who until earlier this year lived in Brentford, came fifth in Beijing four years ago, and had been hotly tipped to land a medal this year.

However, they were almost eight second behind the winners, the United States, and trailed Canada and Netherlands by some distance in the other medal positions too.

The GB girls clocked 6 mins 18.77 secs, with only Australia coming in after them at Eton Dorney, as the final ended in disappointment.
