VICTORIOUS Stephen Tebett produced arguably the best performance by a member of the West Drayton Mountain Bike Club in the thirdround of the Gor-rick Mountain Bike Series.

Tebett rode two consistent laps to finish at the head of a huge field in the fun class in what was his maiden race, at Crowthorne in Berkshire.

Meanwhile, Rachael Denman and Kim Hurst cemented their leads in the overall series as both riders again recorded wins in the youth girls and master women events respectively. Despite having to settle for second on the day Martin Turton remained out in front in the youth boys class while Martin Delves leads the sports class following his third place.

Other results for the club included Ian Petherbridge's fourth in the grand vets, 13th for Stefano DeTomaso in the masters with Chris Denman 14th, Ben O'Connor was 93rd in the open, Jackie Roberts was the third veteran woman and Russ Watts was 68th in the veteran men.

On the road front junior Mark Baxter delivered another impressive ride at the Surrey League Road event, taking part in a senior E1/2/3 race which featured a number of top riders from the south of England. He positioned himself well as the race came down to a big bunch sprint after 50km and took a superb third. [25a0] The club expects a big turn-out for its Black Park cross country races on Sunday where there is racing for all ages and abilities including beginners and youth races. Entry is available on the day and more details can be found at www.westdraytonmbc.co.uk.

The open race is likely to feature some of the top southern riders and The Crown public house, Cowley, has kindly donated a prize for the winner.
